About Rhonda
Real estate brings together many of the things that have interested me throughout my life: economics and markets, problem solving, design, and helping people make important decisions.
My academic background includes an honors degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a PhD in education policy from the University of Michigan. My training in economics, research, and education influences the way I approach real estate—closely examining data, asking good questions, and translating what I learn into practical decisions.
A statistic rarely tells the whole story, and neither does a comparable sale. Every transaction presents its own set of questions. I enjoy figuring out what matters, what the information is telling us, and how the different pieces fit together.
Solving the Right Problem
One of the things I enjoy most about real estate is that no two situations are exactly alike.
For a seller, the questions may involve where to invest time and resources before going on the market, how to present a home's strongest features, or how to position it among the alternatives buyers are considering.
For a buyer, the questions are different. What is this particular home worth? What should we investigate more carefully? Which tradeoffs matter? How does this property compare with the other choices available?
Answers to these questions come from understanding the client, the home, and the market—and then determining what makes sense in that particular situation.
An Educator at Heart
Real estate involves an array of decisions, and many of them require understanding information—from market data and comparable sales to inspection findings and the terms of an offer.
I want my clients to understand their options, the reasoning behind a recommendation, and what that means for the decision in front of them. That doesn't mean making every decision complicated. Often, good guidance does the opposite. It helps identify what matters most, brings clarity to the decision, and makes the next step easier.
The Pioneer Valley has been an important part of my life since I came to UMass Amherst as an undergraduate. Today, I work with sellers and buyers throughout the region, with a particular focus on Amherst and Northampton and the surrounding Five College area. I value the relationships I build through this work and the opportunity to help people through decisions that matter in their lives.
